TEAMBUILDING
Working as a team is an important aspect of learning in Japanese education. And an essential element for that is to have roles. Here you will find professional development activities focused on using roles to build classroom rapport. These are fun and light ways to practice grammar and vocabulary among other target languages.

Build-A-Tower
You are the mayor of a city, and your participants are architects. Participants will be placed in groups to work together to build a model tower and present their idea to you. Participants are allowed to be creative. However, there are certain criteria to be met for a friendly competition.
Activity Time: 30+ minutes

Collaborative Haiku
Together, participants in groups will create haikus (one of the traditional styles of poetry-writing in Japan) by adding onto original lines to other groups. For this particular activity, participants will see how they can incorporate grammar/vocabulary into something fun!
Activity Time: 35+ minutes
*Times noted above may vary and do not include time required for post-activity discussions
