INTRODUCTION
Welcome!
Inspired from my own teaching experiences here in Japan, I want nothing more than to share what I have learned to professionals in the EFL field. Combining my experiences with research and literature from my Capstone at Hamline University, here, you will deepen your understanding of how culture and learning is connected.
In this website, you will find 15 activities that are culturally relevant (and responsive) to Japanese English learners in university. While these are well-loved activities pulled from my experience teaching Japanese ELs, these activities are designed with the intentions and frameworks for professional development. It is designed specifically for native English teachers teaching EFL to Japanese English learners in Japanese universities.
With the goal of closing the cultural gap concerning participation between native English EFL teachers and Japanese English learners, I hope you find these professional development activities useful and insightful.

Thank you.
